Five Books In, and the Story Is Just Beginning

Five books.
That number might look small on the surface, especially in a world where collections are often measured in the hundreds or thousands. But here at The Storystead, five books feels meaningful. It feels earned. It feels like the beginning of something that didn’t exist not long ago.
Every story here begins with care, intention, and time.
This project truly started from nothing. No database. No structure. No shelves at all. Just an idea, a love of children’s books, and a belief that stories can help people feel less alone.
Since then, The Storystead has been changing constantly. Daily. Weekly. Monthly. Sometimes hour by hour. Pages shift, systems improve, categories evolve, and the vision keeps sharpening as I learn more and listen closely to what this space needs to become.
Read Slowly, Built Carefully
Every book that appears here has been read by me. Slowly. Thoughtfully. Often more than once. I sit with the stories before they ever reach the site, thinking about who might need them, how they might land, and what kind of care they deserve when they’re shared.
This isn’t a content farm or a bulk upload project. It’s a growing library built one story at a time.
And while there are only five books live right now, the next stack is already waiting on my desk. Spines piled. Pages marked. Notes half-written. The work continues quietly, even when it’s not immediately visible on the site.
More Than a Number
These first five books represent more than a milestone. They represent a foundation. A testing ground. A chance to build the structure correctly before filling every shelf.
They reflect the care I want to bring to themes like grief, emotional expression, comfort, and resilience, not as labels slapped onto stories, but as thoughtful guides for readers, caregivers, and educators.
Thank You for Being Here
I also want to pause here and say thank you.
Thank you to everyone who has donated books, supported the project financially, followed along on social media, left comments, shared posts, or simply visited the site to see what’s growing. Every interaction, every message, every quiet bit of encouragement matters more than you probably realize.
This project may be curated by one person, but it’s already being shaped by a community.
Five books in, The Storystead is still becoming itself. And that’s exactly how it’s meant to be.
The shelves will fill. The systems will strengthen. The stories will keep finding their way home.
Thank you for being here at the beginning. 🌱
